How can you remove Polyurethane from Vikrell Tub?
We had the wood floors refinished in our bathroom and they got some of the poly gloss on the side of the tub. Is there something that will remove it without taking off the shine of the tub? The tub is made out of Vikrell.
Allow the poly to dry hard over a couple of days.
Use a hardwood block (oak, hickory or similar) – a 1 x 2 perhaps 6″ long – and a rubber mallet to tap lightly along the edge of the stain with the edge of the block. The poly should peel right up without doing any damage to the substrate. The poly will not bond tightly to the Vikrell, however until it is fully cured it will smear rather than peel off. A light touch and a nice square edge on the wooden block and you should be fine. Tap at a very slight angle from horizontal – the idea is to catch the edge of the poly, not make a dent in the Vikrell.
