Hot tub owners – We are going to a hotel and it has one, how do I know if it’s clean?
We have a pool and I could test anyone else’s pool water, but we are going to a resort with a hot tub in the room. Can I test it or is there anything I should take to treat it if needed?
if you mean it has a hottub/spa in the bathroom that is emptied after each use – all spas should be cleaned with a proper spa cleaner which is added after the spa is filled up and the jets are turned on, this then runs through the jet pipes and cleans out all the fat and oil that was left by the previous people, i work in a resort and ive seen the disgusting stuff that comes out the pipes when i clean a room after someone has checked out. Though a lot of cleaners get slack , and by pass this to get their rooms cleaned quicker. You could fill the spa up with water and run the jets with some detergent if the bubbles go brown and greasy ,then it hasnt been properly cleaned, and you could demand someone come up and clean it with the proper spa cleaning solution and as well a free room.
