cleaning impeller for jacuzzi magnum force pump?
How can you diassemble the pump to clean out the impeller?
Turn off and lock out the power supply to the pump, so that no one turns it on while you’re working on it. The Magnum’s have what’s called a ring lock system, securing the volute ( front of the unit) to the motor/ impeller assembly, there’s a small tab to unlock on the top side of that ring. Spin the ring counter clockwise and watch your feet, you’ll get a little wet. That separates front and back. If your electrician was kind, he left you extra cord and room to get the motor out to a spot easy to work on. I can’t recall off hand if there are two screws to undo to get the impeller housing off here or not. I seem to recall it just has two grooves and tabs, such that it only goes back on the correct way. In any event, off comes the housing and your impeller is exposed. Using a gently curved coat hanger, poke in through each impeller vane, towards the centre and pull out whatever is blocking it from there. Re assembly is the reverse, make sure that the large O ring around the motor end is in place and not twisted and that the rubber gasket is in place at the business end of the impeller housing. There are two notches and tabs on each side to help guide it back in straight. Spin on the ring lock until you hear it click. That’s that top tab locking in place. You only need to fill the pump back up with water to prime it up again.
