What are some good ways to remain an individual while being a mom?
I’ve heard all the cliche stuff over and over. Nice hot bath, spa time, skin care, mani-pedi, haircut, girls’ night out, shopping trip… all great ideas but I need something different. I feel like I’m a functional fixture rather than a person. I love my little girl so much, but I haven’t felt like an individual in a very long time. Is there anything you do on a daily basis that keeps you feeling like the beautiful individual you really are on the inside?
Please no lectures. I do savor every moment with my little girl. I do appreciate this special time in my life. I do not wish it away. I do not take the good things for granted. I am thankful to have her. I do enjoy being a mommy. I am greatly blessed and very thankful. I just need a few ideas here. Thanks!
You need to make time for yourself. It’s not being selfish, it helps you be a better Mom. If the whole mani-pedi-girls night doesn’t appeal to you, find something that does. Maybe take a class at a Community College, join a book club, take Zumba classes, train for a marathon, anything that you can do on a pretty regular basis, without having your child with you. No one says that when you become a Mom you need to give up being an individual.
