What size of wire and breaker should I use for this pool Pump?
The fountain has a 1.5 hp pump that runs on 230v at 7.8 amps.
It is 120 feet from the breaker box.
Is 10 guage ok or is that too overkill?
How about a 30 amp breaker?
Is this US?
You need a two pole 15 amp breaker
#14 wire would normally be OK, but the distance makes #14 marginal, and given that motors need a lot of extra current to start, I’d go with #12 wire. Use outdoors rated wire.
But check your local codes, they can vary.
