Why does the hot water pressure drop off in my kitchen?
I moved into a new house. In the kitchen, when you run the hot water tap, and the hot water starts to come through, the pressure gradually drops off so that there’s eventually only a trickle. You need to keep turning the tap on more to counteract it.
Upstairs is fine, but it’s only the kitchen tap that it happens on.
The heating system is an unvented system, with the storage tank upstairs, and the boiler in the kitchen.
The house is new built, so all the taps, heating, plumbing etc. are new as well.
It is very likely that the washer within the kitchen valve is failing. Try replacing it.
Newly built or not – if the washer/O-ring inside the tap is loose it will cause the symptoms you describe.
