How much does it cost to convert from 110v to 220v?
This is for a house with three floors. Want to purchase a swim spa but we need to upgrade our electric.
Unless your house was wired in the 20′s and never upgraded, you have 240 volt service.
Please give “dtstellwagen” ten points as he’s dead on! Changing from 120 volts to 240 volts on an existing receptacle means making sure that, that one receptacle is on it’s very own dedicated circuit. If not, and you do this, you WILL be calling a pro. (that is a period at the end of that sentence)
I have been lucky enough to have seen two, what was then called, a 105 volt service in my lifetime. It was still a 240 volt service drop, only one of the hot legs was wired up to the service entrance conductors. Round 60 amp meter. I even took pictures. (computer fried and I lost them. Taught me a lesson about “back up” your work)
Three floors? Please tell me that you don’t want the spa on the top floor! (LOL)
