Does anyone know a lot about dehydration/muscle inflammation?
I spent the last couple months dehydrated without knowing it. After a few doctors appts and some injuries, I decided to try drinking more and the major muscle cramps I had eased up. However, I seem to be in a situation where my muscles are now stuck in place and do not want to stretch. They may even be inflamed, I’m not sure. Every time I try stretch, I feel tendons pulling or muscle pulling. I feel these prickly, stinging sensations. I’ve tried showers but it only helps minutely. I’ve tried massaging everything but that doesn’t work. I can’t get in a pool or hot tub, and walks are not working…I can’t even pick stuff up off the floor. I’ve been to a rhematologist and she said I don’t have any kind of disorder. I’ve read at an online yoga site that your muscles can actually get stuck in place and then you have to rehab. But what can I do to help? Thanks for your answers
Im gonna call bs on your muscles actually getting stuck in place. I think your on the right track by drinking water. I would also check your diet. Eating a lot of salty foods could be making you retain a lot of that water in your muscles. I think that stretching could help you but stretching is only good if you are completly warmed up. That means actually raising your core temperature. The easiest way I have found to do this without getting super tired is to layer up and do an easy exercise like jogging slow, or stationary bike. Do it until you have a good full body sweat going. Now take off some layers so you can stretch. You might also be building up a lot of lactic acid from exercising. Eat bannas and get some potassium and that should help. Another thing you can do is take an ice bath or at least just a really cold one and that will cause your muscles to constrict and squeeze out the bad stuff. Its hard to do at first but if you just sit there a minute the water around you will warm up a bit then its kind of relaxing in a weird way.
