What is the proper wiring for installing a jacuzzi tub with a heat pump?
We had to rip out the old tub due to a major water damage underneath. We have a jacuzzi tub with a heat pump. There is a standard outlet low on the wall behind where the framing for old tub originally was. I am assuming we need a gfci outlet since the source is near water. how many amps circuit do I need, 15 or 20? Do we have to have a dedicated wire ran directly from the breaker box to new gfci outlet??

I have seen some of these. Sometimes you can run them on a single 20 amp circuit. Sometimes, the manufacturer specs 2 circuits, one for the pump, one for the heater unit (could be either 15 or 20 amps, depending on manufacturer). Check carefully.
True, the receptacles for these are required to be GFI protected. However, I really try to avoid locating the GFI under the tub. If there is going to be an electrical problem, it is usually with the GFI. These are a real pain in the butt to service/replace later if located in the tub access (trust me, I am the guy who usually has to service/replace them). Instead, I prefer to locate what is sometimes referred to as a ‘ faceless GFI’, in a nearby closet. I then use the load output to protect a standard receptacle in the tub access area. If done properly with screw-type terminals, the standard receptacle rarely fails. The ‘faceless GFI’ looks like the profile of a normal GFI receptacle, except that there are no holes/slots in the face to insert a plug.
