I have a problem with my spa level each morning?
I have a built in pool/spa. Lately the spa is not completely full in the morning. When I turn on the pool filter, it fills fine and overflows as normal, but obviously when the pump goes off at night or some time during the night, the level is going water level is going down below the plaster. My pool guy says it is a check valve for $75 bucks, but I Googled it and this does not seem to be something that would cause this. Help?
I am not sure what you are suggesting here – are you _adding_ additional water each morning, or is the spa section merely draining down into the pool? If the former is the case, no, a check-valve will not be the issue, there is a leak somewhere. But if the latter, then the check valve is exactly the issue. The spa and pool share the same water, and the check-valve is designed to keep the spa water level higher than the pool level. If it is leaking slightly, it will drain overnight but not visibly while you are in it.
A check-valve is a one-way valve allowing water to flow from the pump into the spa. From there the water will overflow back into the pool. They are not expensive to purchase, but they take a bit of time and skill to install.
