is this shower design ok? or is it trouble?
This is a repost….i really wanted to know if it is ok to have a shower over a “drop in” tub or will the water sit on the ledge between the tub and wall and cause water leaks and problems? it just seems wrong to have water pour down into an area that cant drain….this was my original post…..
I am looking at this house for sale and when i look at the corner tub with a shower over it , it dont seem right to me…..can anyone tell me if the way this was designed will be okay or is this just asking for trouble? also there isnt anyway to put doors across. and it appears that there is a halogen light in there which seems like a bad idea around steam….just let me know…here is the link…just click on the pic of the house and flip through the pics by hitting next and you will see the bathroom in question. thanks.

it’s a little hard to tell from the picture. however, a couple questions. 1. does the tub go all the way to the tile wall? if it doesn’t and there is a gap then no it is no good. run. 2. i see it is a jetted tub so there should be an access panel for the pump motor. from this panel you can check if the tub has a tile flange (it is molded into the tub and goes up behind the tile). if it looks the same as the exposed front of the tub then it is the wrong tub for the installation. run. 3. double check with an electrician, but if the light is sealed vapor proof it’s ok. 4. with the tub faucet on the deck you are stuck with a curtain if you want to use the shower. sorry but if this is the master bath and there is no other shower i would tell the builder he’s an idiot.
and just a side question is that a delta shower valve with a moen deck mount faucet?
