i am not able to pay for my private in ground pool/spa, water, gas,electric, chemicles, pool services etc. I don’t want to destroy a beautifull 6 yrs.old pool. I just wanted to know if it was possible to
plug it up for a time until I sell my home. wouldn’t it be nice to sell or buy a home with that option?
Yes, you can winterize it, even in summer. This is a case where having a proper fitting winter cover , that’s a poly tarp or vinyl, is non negotiable. A safety cover won’t cut it during summer months. They allow too much debris in and will have your pool green in no time.
You’ll save on all your pool expenses but it’ll make your house a little more difficult to sell unless you get a pool contractor in to do a pool assessment prior to closing it that is a written report on the pool and equipment condition. You can then have proof as to the pool’s condition for prospective buyers or you can invite prospective buyers to have a company of their choice, come in to do the report. I did several of these for prospective buyers when I worked as a pool tech, on closed pools. Let’s face it, people want to see what the backyard really looks like with the pool up and going ( a selling feature) and not covered. They also want to be sure that everything appears to have been taken care of properly, which a up and running clean pool, demonstrates.
