Bromine reading of Zero in my hot tub?
I recently went from Chlorine to Bromine in my Spa.
I started by shocking it and have added chlorine ever other night.
The issue is if I skip adding chlorine for a day my reading goes to zero.
I know the tablets are dissolving because I see it. Does it really take a week or two for the bromine to enter the water?
ok #1 bromine tabs have a very high acid content and tend to drive down your p.h. the p.h. of bromine tabs are about 4.3 and neutral p.h. is 7.0 all the acid in those bromine tabs NEVER EVER gets completely used so every time you put in a tab you add a little more acid to the water. so that in turn affects your equipment badly leading to leaking pump seals jets coming apart and ending up in pieces in the bottom of your tub and causing the heating element to go out prematurely. and also causing the underside of your spa cover to discolor. turns blonde hair light shades of green. eats up bathing suits and so on ! a better chemical is called sodium dichlor it has almost a neutral p. h. slightly acidic. about a 6.8 p.h. you would use 2 oz per 500 gallons once a week no matter what .
