What does “system error 17″ on pool/spa timer mean?
Pool/spa timer sting L, model SR-500, beeps & reads “system error 17″. I can not find the manual, does anyone know what it means?
That’s not a timer. That’s a safety vacuum release system. It monitors the pressure on the drains and shuts the pumps off if the drain gets plugged to prevent someone from getting sucked in. We have one on our neighborhood pools.
Here’s the manual http://stinglproducts.com/techinfo/PDF/2007SR500PSComboManual35.pdf . Page 39 says an Error 17 is a very high or very low inlet pressure. Check the strainer baskets.
