What is a hot start in a jet engine?
Most of the time it means that the max allowable EGT ( Exhaust Gas Temperature, which means the temperature of what’s coming out of the tail pipe) is exceeded. The reason normally is to much fuel or to little air. This may be a bug with the Fuel Control Unit.
If the pilot notices that the EGT is rising and exceeds the red line, he will cutoff fuel. If he doesn’t, you will cost your airline a lot of money, help GE/RR/PW make a profit and piss off the power plant mechanic.
