I (male) went to a masseuse that works out of her home. She requested that I shower before the massage and I obliged. However I was somewhat startled when I pulled back the curtain to step out to find her standing there with a towel to dry me with. She later explained that she had worked in spas throughout Europe and that this was a common practice. It didn’t really bother me but I was just wondering if this is common here.
A rinse is sometimes requested but it was very unprofessional of her to surprise you like that. The professional way to deal with clients is to always inform them what you’re going to do or what is expected. She should have told you “I will leave a towel here for you” or gave you the option of having her being there or being alone. While nudity is more common in Europe, it doesn’t excuse her lack of professionality because a masseuse should always inform a client through the process and avoid any potential awkwardness when it comes to nudity.
