What can I take into Rehab?
I am going into a rehabilitation clinic in 2 days and I have been told to bring toiletries and clothes.
I have seen my timetable for the week and its pretty intense but finishes at 10pm and I am not a very good sleeper and wanted to take my portable dvd player and Nintendo DS but not sure if I’m allowed.
Also, will I be able to have my mobile phone? I know I wont be able to be on it all the time otherwise I wont be able to focus on recovery but will I be able to leave it in my room and use it in the evening?
I will not be detoxing at all and I am going in for alcohol addiction if that makes any difference. I have been in hospital for 2 weeks as a result of my drinking so I have not had a drink for 20 days now so detox was not necessary.

Different rehab clinics have different rules, most clinics will not allow DVD players etc (at least not at the beginning of your stay – for exactly the reason you put – so you focus on your recover), but most will have TVs and importantly help on hand to help you address your sleep problems. It is worth calling the clinic you are going into and asking them for a list of things you should bring and a list of things that are not permitted. Whether you can take your DS or not, do speak to the staff about your anxieties – I am sure they will be able to help.
