Hot Springs Spa Help Please!?
After a recent lightning storm my hot tub quit working. The house breaker nor the outlet or tub/heater reset breakers on the tub were tripped. Opened the box inside and do not see any visible damage either. Its an older hot springs spa probably 1990, just doesn’t do anything! Tried different appliances to the outlet and they all work, WHAT CAN I DO?????????
Typically there is a reset button on the bottom or side of the control box on an older spa. There are also fuses inside the box itself that may be blown.
Turn OFF the power to the hot-tub, both in the house and at the local Ground-Fault breaker. Open the box carefully and look for fuses. They may be both glass and fiber-type cartridge fuses in little holders on the circuit board. Unless they are glass fuses, you will need a VOM (volt-ohm-meter) to check them (use the “continuity” setting). If you find a blown fuse, replace it with exactly the same type and rating fuse. It is also possible that there are fuses in in-line holders -again more common on older spas, so check for those as well.
Otherwise, you will have to call a professional as it may be the case that the board has been damaged by the lightning strike.
