What electrical amp current will I need?
Okay so I bought this sauna & I think it will need an adaptor because it runs on a 15 Amp plug, This is the only detail, I can provide that is runs on.
3) Rated power: 1800W
4) 15 amp plug
5) Rated voltage: 220V / 240V / 110V / 120V
I live in Australia, I’m not sure what type of amp plug we use here but, I postiv its a different one.
I think Austalian voltage is 220V – 240V
I was hoping to only have to use an adaptor & electrical surge safety box but My mother thinks the amp plug might need a special plug outlet installed!?
I think the sauna will have a voltage converter switch.
I would appreciate any help!
Could I but some sort of amp converter at the store or something?
OK… Put simply as possible:
Your base voltage is 240V, 50hz single phase hot/neutral. The typical plug-type is linked below.
1800/240 = 7.5, or 7.5 amps – well within the rating of the plug.
No adaptor needed if the plug is compatible with your receptacles and the fuse/breaker is adequate. Otherwise change the plug to the correct type making sure you have the correct polarity (hot/neutral/ground).
Make sure that the sauna voltage switch is to 240V – or that the wiring harness is connected to the correct leads – there are often color-coded connectors in the electrical box vs. an actual multi-voltage switch.
Good luck with it.
