Demand water heaters?
I plan to put a demand water heater into a small home. The only use for hot water is at the kitchen sink and shower (no tub). It’s a small 2 or 3 home, normally with no more than 4 people living in the home. Looking at the demand heaters, they come in 3 kw, 7 kw, 18 kw and 28 kw. What one size would be efficient to choose.
This home doesn’t have LP or gas. The water heater has to be electric. Thanks for the answer, I guess we will probably go with the 28 kw.
I wouldn’t go electric, I replace them daily with gas fired units… if you have propane or natural gas available Rinnai is the only way to go. 7.4 gallons per minute at a 60 degree temperature rise…. those electric units can barely handle a shower at 2.5 GPM….

With Rinnai you’re not limited to 4 showers a day…You can shower ALL day and do your laundry and dishes at the same time.
Do yourself a favor and don’t install an on demand electric unit… you’ll wanna tear it out the first time you go to take a shower and warm water comes out.
