what happens when you return a defective laptop to best buy?
I bought a brand new toshiba laptop, and within the second day of my purchase, I realized that it had some problems calculating how much free space I had left on my hard drive. I took the laptop back to the store and had it looked at by geek squad, but they didn’t spend too much time trying to diagnose the problem. The manager suggested that I just exchange it for a different one, so I did. I realized that it was used at the time that I exchanged it, but didn’t mind too much. However, once I began using it, I realized that it actually ran hotter, and the keys didn’t function as well as the other one.
So my question is: 1) did I make the right decision in choosing to return my slightly defective laptop, and 2) does best buy repair their returned items, or even better, send them back to the factory for repair. thanks to anyone who can answer this.
You were right to be suspicious of a laptop model with a high
running temperature. In general, higher temperature pc chips have
shorter life spans and they also consume more power.
My hunch is that you should return the second laptop purchase and
search for your third option.
Look for a laptop model that says “Centrino Duo” or Core 2 Duo,
as these are lower-voltage, lower wattage computers that run cooler,
and these also have longer life spans.
Best Buy may send the item back to the factory to repair, or they
may do it themselves, but why wait, go for your third option now,
and choose a differrent model.
I once had a super-fast 3GHz laptop, and this ran hot, unfortunately,
this model only lasted about 1 year.
