solar to many to choose from help!?
im very interested in getting solar power for home and a solar water heater. ive looked on line and there are so many different types and khws. and of course many different prices. we use about 1500khws a month( i run a pool, hot tub and an out door refrig.) how many panels,185khw 170, what about back up batteries. i live in a very rural
town and there’s only one company that installs them and that place is over 100 miles away and im sure there prices are outragious compared to places in bigger cities that have many different companies around that keep the cost down so can anyone point me in the right direction. no rude answers please im just trying to find some good information

I’d go for the solar water heating first, as that will pay back much faster than solar electric. Try calling installers in more populated areas. They’re starving for business right now, and some might be willing to make a trip, even if it’s a couple hundred miles.
If you are handy, or your spouse is, you might try just driving a truck into an area that’s cheaper, and picking up what you need. Then you could install it yourself, or call an ordinary roofer.
For solar electric, an installer would be more likely to travel to you, as the value of the install is high.
