My mom said if I take a bath during my period, I’ll get an infection?
I got my first period July 9th, and I was taking a bath the next day (I always do before showering) and my mom came in to check on me, and when she saw that I was sitting in the tub, she got me out as quick as she could and explained that I could get an infection, and I’d have to go to the doctor, and they’d put something up my vagina. I’m 13, if that changes anything, but is this true?
I mean, I’m going to a huge back-to-school pool party around the second week of august, and if it comes when I’m not expecting it, will I still be able to swim? There’s gonna be probably 100 kids there in that big pool, so I’m kind of worried. If so, will I have to wear a tampon?
My mom is strictly against tampons, and she never used them before. She said I can start wearing them when I grow old enough to move out and get married. I think the whole thing is ridiculous, even though I’m kind of afraid of tampons.
Taking a bath while on your period won’t give you an infection. It’s better to take a bath than a shower on your period because you can get more clean.I do it all the time.
If your period comes around the time of the party, you can swim, but you’ll have to wear a tampon.
Since you just started getting your period, you should start with the lightest smallest tampon first. It is tricky getting it in first but you know you will get the hang of it.You’ll know that it is in when you don’t feel it. You can keep it in for 4 to 6 hours but keep checking on it at least once an hour or half hour to make sure you’re not leaking. If you start to leak sooner than you need to go up a size on the tampon.. If it’s too dry when you take it out than it means you should go down a size or leave it in longer. However, if you start feeling light headed or dizzy to the point where you feel like your going to pass out, take out the tampon and go see a doctor immediately and tell them you may have TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). But if you follow the instructions carefully, you should be fine.
And I think your mom needs to relax. Tell that there nothing wrong with wearing a tampon and it does not take away your virginity (I’m assuming that’s why she wants you to wait until you’re married).
