Hot tub pump not pumping water or heating?
I have a 1994 Cal Spa 8 foot Lounger. Recently the jets stopped working and it stopped heating. The pump and the heater are one component. I am assuming since the pump is not circulating the water it can’t heat and circulate the water either. The pump/heater are running, I checked the fan inside the pump and that is working too. Any thoughts on why it is not pumping the water through? If something is clogged how do I unclog it? Thanks,
The blower is seperate from the pump/heater. They operate from two different controls too. The blower is working perfect. If that piece you mentioned is broken what am I looking at for cost?
The pump/heater is only 1 year old. The main pump is what is running, just not circulating any water
When you say the fan are you really talking abut the blower or the main spa’s pump? If the pump is in fact turning and no water at all is flowing (there’s always a little even if there is some major obstruction) then you do need to open up the wet end of the pump and see what is happening. I would bet ther “wet” end of the pump would show the impeller damaged. That is an older tub and I bet your pump is not working and your actually hearing the blower. No heat can happen if there is no water flow. Feel free to send us digital photos, or post them here.
HMMM.. Look to see if there are any “gate” valves on each line and make sure they are up and open to allow water flow. As far as your pump is concerned. It sounds like you have a problem in the “wet end”, Your going to need to take it apart and see if something is broken(impeller) or stuck, or something is caught in it. Parts can run anywhere from 18-44 for a new one. 12-22 for a new shaft seal if needed. One hour of labor. I would make an attempt first to do it since there’s not much to it.
