Does anyone know what is a safe temperature I should keep my spa at?
So I just got an outdoor spa put in for xmas and I was wondering what is a safe temperature for pregnant ladies and or someone TTC. We aren’t pregnant yet but were planning for the new year and I know that having the water too hot can affect you if ttc or pregnant.
My husband wants the spa to be hot but I cant handle it, I was comfortable with the mid 30′s (34-36 degrees) but he wants high 30′s (38-40 degrees) it’s just too hot and I don’t think its healthy.
I don’t want to fry our chances of having a baby (if you know what I mean) If you have any idea please answer, and thank you!

Most people will freak out if you mention a spa and tell you NEVER to use it while pregnant. However, you are correct that it’s the temperature that’s the issue. Some of the same people who freak out about spas take hot baths and think it’s fine. A hot bath is less risky (but not risk-free) than a hot spa only because in a bath your arms and shoulders are usually exposed, slowing any rise in body temp. You should never use a spa at a hotel since most of them are pre-set to 40 degrees.
Anyway, the spa should be approximately body temperature. If you have a basal thermometer, I would recommend taking your temp every 20 min or so on a few different occasions in the spa to make sure your body temp isn’t going up.
Also, hot temperatures can damage your husband’s sperm, which can take up to 6 months to recover. (Yes, new ones are produced daily, but they’ve been works-in-progress and therefore susceptible to damage.)
