who thinks the following qutoe from a spa brochure sounds like it is discouraging clients that tipping isn’t .
isn’t customary. “We pride ouselves in delivering the highest quality of service to our guests. Gratuities are accepted only if you are 100 percent satisfied!” I do not think something like that is neccessary to put in a spa brochure. What do you think?
I work in the spa industry. The reason they are saying something like that is because after an expensive service a lot of people don’t tip! It kinda sucks because the expensive services are often the most labor intensive. They don’t want people to feel like they HAVE to tip even though they just spent $200 on a seaweed wrap, which is messy, smelly, and a pain in the butt to clean up after.
But always tip, it’s just not fair to the professional. Sometimes they don’t work on commission, but a small hourly that can often be less than minimum wage, because the government expects them to get a tip. Without that tip they made literally nothing.
