Hot tub defoamer – any household items that will work?
Ok, I need a quick answer – I forgot to pick up some defoamer today and my wife wants to get in the tub in a few hours, but there’s alot of foam. Is there any “natural/household item that will defoam the tub? It’s not the body oil/lotion nasty foam – just the soap bubble foam mostly.
Hi Smokey. Your foam is telling me your water is out of balance. Make sure that the Calcium Chloride level is correct (Hardness level) It needs to be between 250-400ppm. That’s the number one reason for foam and if your tub does not have thecorrect amount it needs then it will take out your heater and pump a lot faster. If you water is perfectly balanced you will never use a defoamer. Now to answer your question there’s isn’t any household products your can or should use. Some can really wreck havoc on your acrylic shells even leading to it blistering which can be very expensive to fix.
