We just got a spa and I’m trying to learn the chemicals.
I bought a spa starter kit but there was nothing in it
to raise PH and the little test strip says it’s low. What can I do to raise it?
……and my second question, can I put blue food coloring in the spa or is there anything I can purchase specifically to turn the spa water blue?

Ph is raised by adding Sodium Carbonate. You need to increase the alkalinity to at least 80-120ppm. You do that by adding Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking soda). Some of the Bicarbons will split and there fore raise your pH level (needs to be 7.2-7.8)at the same time. Make sure you also add Calcium Chloride to increase the hardness level to at least 250-400ppm. Now your water will be perfectly balanced. Now to add whatever kind of sanitizer your going to use. Baquaspa like Erskine likes, Softsoak by Bioguard (same stuff), Bromine or chlorine. DO NOT put in blue food coloring because it can stain some hot tub surfaces!
