How would I view deep space without over weight and over price.?
I have an Orion 70mm Altaz refractor, imagediagonal 1.25, weights about 6pds. In order to view deeper space, and see some details, what telescope would be good without going over limit on price and weight? has to be portable(backpack), easy to use and asemble. Limit on price, at or below 500.00$, would like to view galaxies and some details of planets(jupiter, mars, etc.)if possible.
You’re asking the impossible. The closest I’ve come (but it’s a bit over budget) is the Celestron NexStar 6SE. This has 6 inches of quality aperture and fits in a largish backpack, but costs a bit over $500. Telescopes which will really show you deep space fall within your budget, but are (inevitably) large: 8-inch and 10-inch Dobsonians. Anything under 6 inches aperture just won’t cut it for deep space, and 8 to 10 inches is better.

You’ll get the greatest value for your money with a Newtonian reflector on a Dobsonian mount, such as these:

Buy from a store which specializes in telescopes and astronomy, either locally or online; don’t buy from department stores, discount stores or eBay as mostly what they sell is junk. Find your local astronomy club and try out different telescopes at one of their star parties:

I strongly recommend that beginners steer clear of astrophotography until they have learned their way around the sky. Astrophotography is by far the most expensive and difficult area of amateur astronomy.
Many people who buy telescopes have no idea how to find interesting things to observe. A good introduction to finding things is NightWatch by Terence Dickinson (Firefly). A more advanced book is Star Watch by Phil Harrington (Wiley).
