can you use a 240v 1200w fan heater on a 15m extension lead?
hi my sister has a 16 foot caravan out the front of my house connected up to a 240v 10 amp powerpoint inside of the house via a 15 metre 15 amp extension lead (the powerpoint is 8 metres away from the caravan but i want to know can you use a 1200w fan heater inside of the caravan ,also my house has not got a 15amp powerpoint installed on it as its a ministry style house
a 1200w heater w/ motor @ 240 volts consume 5 amperes. starting current tend to be big, allow twice the current for the circuit breaker rating so you need at least 10amps circuit breaker. as long as the fan works fine that can do. but if the fan is hard to start the breaker may trip.
